The Grand View Garden is a classical garden modeled on what was described in
the novel of Hongloumeng (A Dream of Red Mansions), situated by Dianshan
Lake-side in Quingpu Country in western Shanghai. It consists of a dozen
groups of scenic constructions such as Daguanlou (Grand View Tower),
Xiaoxiangguan (Bamboo Lodge), Yihongyuan (Cheerful Red Court), Hengwuyuan (Lush
Grass Court), Daoxiangcun (Paddy-Fragrance Cottage) and more.
The Oriental Pearl Tower
The Oriental Pearl Tower is in the center of Lujiazui, opposite to the Bund,
standing by the bank of Huangpu River. It is famous for its grand building
of various architectural styles. The tower is 468 meters high. It is
the highest TV Tower in Asia and is the third highest one in the world.
The designers magically set the eleven beautiful spheres of various sizes up
from the green grassland to the blue sky with two giant spheres shining like two
rubies. The whole design is rich in poetic and pictorial splendor, which
impresses tourists that pearls of various sizes are dropping onto the emerald
plate.
The Tower is equipped with three-dimensional lighting installation which
makes the whole tower very beautiful and colorful. It has already become
one of the symbolic buildings and tourism resorts in Shanghai and it is honored
as one of the ten best views in Shanghai.
Waitan of Shanghai
Waitan was named in memory of Doctor Sun Yet-Sen, pioneer of the Chinese
democratic revolution. It is just 1.5 kilometers long from Waibaidu Bridge
in the north to East Jinling Road in the south, running along the Huangpu River
on the east side, while its west side is aligned with 52 tall buildings of
various styles (Gothic, baroque and much more). This "Display of
Multi-national Architectures" has become a symbol of Shanghai.
Yufo Temple
One of Shanghai's famous Buddhist temples, Yufo Temple is located in the
city, belonging to the Chan sect. It has a history of over one hundred
years. Yofo Temple was constructed in the style of the palace architecture
of the Song Dynasty, comprising the Hall of Heavenly King, the Precious Hall of
Sakyamuni, the Hall of Reclinging Buddha, the Pavillion of Jade Buddha and so

history while guiding you through the craft of millennia. Just spend your
half day here, it's one of the city's highlights.
The Bund
The Bund gets its name from the Anglo-Indian term for the embankments used to
prevent flooding, formerly a towpath. The Bund was Shanghai's Wall Street
to the Europeans, a place of feverish trading and an unabashed playground for
Western business sophisticates. It still remains the city's most
impressive mile and is an eloquent reminder that Shanghai is a very foreign
invention.
